The Petrichor Box

If you are examining this PhD, you will have received a box in the mail that contains a taste of each project in this research.

Most of the contents are easy to take out of the box, but the Olfactory Wheels have a custom paper hook that attaches them to the box. Here is a short video tutorial on how to lift it up and out of the box:

Contents

The contents of the box include — (Top row, left to right): Olfactory Wheel for the Critical Zone, original and fire editions; The Weighing of the Heart; Arctic Ice Chess single ice cube mould and toy soldier; (Middle row): Burned Lines excerpt; (Bottom row): Martian Petrichor embedded in the centre of Gale Crater made of absorbent wood (3D file open-sourced from NASA and milled using a CNC machine); Earth/Mars cyanotypes including three images of Earth and three images of Mars with various toning treatments.

Packaging and Sustainability

The box is made of 100% recycled corrugated cardboard and assembled with minimal gluing. Protective packaging includes 100% recyclable and compostable hex wrap and jute twine.
